Sunday 3 April  - Picture report extra

Here's a  further selection of pictures from Sunday 3 April when Arriva Trains Wales faced up to a lack of drivers by hiring in trains from private suppliers. We've arranged them below in order of locomotive number for a change.

37 197

This never actually worked a passenger train: having worked empty stock to Bangor the day before, it returned on the back  the empty coaches on the morning of Sunday 3 April. This is Bangor - picture by Rowan Crawshaw.

Virgin Trains

Virgin provided a pair of Class 221s on their Holyhead service: here's the pair at Llandudno Junction. Moments before the platform was swarming with passengers who had been told to join the first 5 coaches as the last 5 were full.It was a few minutes late because they held it at Holyhead to meet the Boat. And finally ...

On the same day, 67 004 was pictured at Chester by Dave Bramley on a Northern Belle charter.
