Arriva Trains Wales took the chance to run loco-hauled relief trains to
bring Irish fans from the ferry at Holyhead to the Wales v. Ireland
Rugby international in Cardiff which was played on Saturday 19 March.
This created great interest among our reporters - warning: the
following may overload your computer's memory!

The train ran as empty stock (5Z47) from Crewe carriage sidings to
Holyhead on Friday Morning 18 March: Tim J. Rogers captured the
Riviera Trains ensemble passing Holywell Junction with 47 847 Railway
World Magazine leading and 47 815 trailing eiight ex-Virgin
Trains Mk2 coaches.

Running along the sea wall at Mostyn (Tim J. Rogers) First Great
Western's Abertawe Landore nameplates have been removed,
preumably by FGW before handing over the loco to Riviera Trains.

Reversal at Chester (Shaun C.)

Passing Bayston Hill north of Shrewsbury, 47 847 is in the lead, the
train having reversed to Chester to take the Wrexham route. (Bushcutter)
