The first day of April brings great news for readers: following an unfortunate incident in which a well-known musician suffered severe damage to an important part of his anatomy due to standing too close to the vestibule door of a Class 175, all have been withdrawn for modification (expected to take two days) and re-application for a safety case (expected to take two years.)
Making the best of things, First North Western have decided to go out in style by painting the Class 37s in corporate livery and returning them to the North Wales Coast, as our photographs show. Full details of locomotive diagrams will be available just as our spreadsheet expert remembers the lost art...

66 530 in Railtrack 'Bubble' livery entered Penmaenmawr yard in the early hours of April 1st to be named 'Penmaenmawr' in recognition of the quarry's close links with the railways in supplyimg track ballast since the 1880s. Anyone see it? - 1 April
We are receiving reports that Great North Eastern Railway have been awarded a renewal of the franchise for the East Coast Main Line, and that as a sop to the Virgin/Stagecoach group to stop them mounting a lagel challenge to this, Stagecoach have been re-awarded the franchise for South West Trains. However, this is such an unlikely scenario that it must be just someone trying to pull an April Fool joke on us ... - 1 April
