THE NORTH WALES COAST RAILWAY NOTICE BOARD
Rheilffordd arfordir gogledd Cymru Burdd hybyseb: newyddion

Clearly taken at Crewe sometime in early April before the wires were erected, was it a follow up experiment to 10000/10001?  Times must have been hard because there is little track, plenty of weeds and the locomotive is running as a Bo Bo rather than a Co Co - was this an attempt to save money?  Can anybody identify the loco? - Picture by Ian Bowland.

Site news

Following recent publicity in the media for the success of 'dotcom' companies, we have decided to organise a flotation for this site, in order to make millions of pounds within days, which we will then spend on buying all the Class 37/4s and Class 309s, converting the latter into push-pull trailer units and undercutting Alstom for the supply of trains to the Coast line. However, we have been suffering some setbacks. Early experiments with a laptop in the bath proved fruitless and expensive in repair bills, so we obtained a Psion organiser, which we fitted with buoyancy equipment with some success. However, there are still problems with fitting the whole site into its memory, and the salt water of the Irish Sea may have deleterious effects. Further advice on this matter would be very welcome. - 1 April

Design insight

Thanks to our European Rail Industry correspondent Tony Kilometres, we bring you some secret pictures from the Alstom factory files, showing how the designers arrived at the front end design for the new Class 180 units being built for First Great Western.  - 1 April
